Aya Gold & Silver – record production in 2021

Australian mining company Aya Gold & Silver last week disclosed its production figures for the last quarter of 2021 and for the full year 2021. With the results, the company exceeded its own production planning and achieved record production.

The flagship of Aya Gold & Silver, the Zgounder mine in Morocco, has played a major role in this success.

General

Aya Gold & Silver is an emerging and rapidly growing precious metals mining company headquartered in Canada. The Company is principally engaged in the exploration, development and production of the precious metals gold and silver. However, the focus is clearly on silver production.

Mainly Aya Gold & Silver is active in Morocco. It is also home to the company’s flagship project the Zgounder silver mine, in which the company holds an 85 percent stake.

In recent years, Aya Gold & Silver has steadily increased its silver production and is an interesting silver producing company for investors due to its excellent business development. Aya Gold & Silver’s shares are listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TXS).

Record production in 2021

The 2021 silver production results released last week are more than positive for Aya Gold & Silver. With production of around 1.6 million ounces in 2021, the company even exceeded its own production planning and achieved a record in total production.

Compared to the production figures of the world’s leading silver producers such as Glencore, Fesnillo, Pan American Silver, KGHM Polska Miedz or Goldcorp, the silver production of Aya Gold & Silver is negligible.

But the company has made the leap from junior miner to intermediate miner in just a few years and has steadily increased its production figures in the meantime. Silver production is also planned to increase again in 2022 to 1.8 million ounces.

Zgounder Mine in Morocco

Aya Gold & Silver has focused its exploration projects primarily on mineral-bearing areas in Morocco and the company’s flagship and main production area, the Zgounder Mine is also located in the central Antiatlas Mountains in Morocco.

The underground Zgounder mine is the second most important silver mine in Morocco and also one of the oldest mines in the North African country. Aya Gold & Silver acquired the mine in 2012 and began commercial silver production in 2019.

Silver output increased by 6 percent year-on-year in the last quarter of 2021 alone. For example, in the fourth quarter of 2021, the mine produced about 716 tons of silver per day. Around 65855 tons of mineral rock were processed for this purpose.
